Learn the fundamentals of C++ — one of the most popular programming languages on the planet, with applications spanning systems software to video games. It is one of the most relevant, in-demand programming languages on the job market today. C++ has many uses—from game development to business tools and academic research. It is even the chosen language for the major coding competitions such as USACO (USA Computing Olympiad), iOi (International Olympiad in Informatics), and Microsoft Imagine Cup.
This hands-on Computer Science class is designed for 9th+ grade students exploring potential career as computer software technologists, or preparing to participate in coding competitions. Part of a broad hierarchy of popular and powerful languages with deep roots in the C language, C++ builds versatility in young programmers. Our students will learn the fundamentals of C++ and utilize the industry-standard, integrated development environment Microsoft® Visual Studio® Express to create impressive projects. At the end of class, students will leave with a solid foundation in C++ programming, be ready for further study in AP-CS A subject and Java language, and be equipped with the tools to excel in the booming field of computer technology.
Prerequisite: Proficiency in Algebra
