KidsRuby & Robotics (6th ~ 10th grade)
Learning programming to control robot (Sphero Ball/Robot) is an excellent way to improve children’s mental development by technology and “mixed-reality” experience. KidsRuby is an easy to learn and fun to play technology for children and teens, and support programming interface with Sphero Robot. President Obama had played with Sphero robot during his trip to Colorado, and he asked the crowd "excuse me, give me some space to drive my ball!" Since the President's positive experience with Sphero Robot, this mixed-reality robot is now exploring the potential military application for national defense! KidsRuby is a simplified version of Ruby. Ruby was invented by Yukihiro "Matz" Matsumoto in Japan. Motsumoto said the reason he invented Ruby was to make programming an enjoyable experience. In Google Tech Talk back in year 2008, Matsumoto stated, "I hope to see Ruby help every programmer in the world to be productive, and to enjoy programming, and to be happy”. His vision did pay off... Ruby became the de facto language of choice for college and high school students to create then new generation of web 2.0 sites in 2000s. Popular site such as Twitter, Shopify, Basecamp, Github, Hulu and uncountable others, owe their explosive growth and success not only to the founders' creativity and imagination, also Ruby's magic in making imagination a reality.

Temple City: 7/5 & 7/12 (Friday, 10:00 AM~5:30 PM, total 12 hours)
For Students: 6th~10th grade)
Notes: Student needs to provide own laptop computer, Sphero Robot, Mobile devices such as iPad, iPhone, iPod

本課程將傳授在社群網路界(如Twitter, Shopify, Basecamp, Github, Hulu....等)廣受使用的編程語言Ruby，並指導學員利用它的簡易版KidsRuby來遙控連美國歐巴馬總統都為之瘋迷、國防部也在密切關注其軍事用途的Sphero Robot 機器人(球)。
上課時間：
東區Walnut教室：6/21, 6/28(週五)上午 10:00~下午5:30 (共12小時)
西區Temple City教室：7/5, 7/12 (週五)上午 10:00~下午5:30 (共12小時)
招生對象：6~10年級
特別說明：學生需自備手提電腦、Sphero Robot機器人、行動裝置如iPad, iPhone, iPod
