- Creative Computing using MIT Scratch: 3/16/14~5/18/14 (8 weeks) Enrolling now !
(Students must bring own laptop computer)
This innovative technology education series is designed for students showing early potential and interest in Computer Technology, and who want to know the best direction in order to maximize their future achievement based on own interest, talent and character traits.
The course is divided into 4 topics including cloud system, robotic control, game programming and creative computing. Students will get exposure to the most promising future technologies and be able to measure his/her own interest, at the same time, learn to become familiar with Amazon’s Cloud technology, Ruby programming language in robotic control, game programming using Visual Studio and Creative Computing using MIT Scratch programming software.
Level I -- Amazon Cloud Technology (Amazon Web Services): AWS is the most popular infrastructure in use at today’s web application. 80% of technology companies in USA rely on it to create their own products. Familiar with this technology does not require math and programming skills. It is easy to learn, fun to play with and will make student a “wiz” kid among his/her peers!
Class dates: 9/15/13~11/3/13 (8 weeks)
Level II – Ruby Programming & Robotic Control -- Ruby is a high level programming language empowering many successful technology and software companies today. It is one of the easiest to learn and widely supported modern programming languages. Applying Ruby in robotic control is a fun project by itself. Nothing has more lasting learning impact like programming a robot using Ruby because students will get immediate feedback from their own creation, and can feel and touch the result of their own hard works in their fingertips. Class dates: 11/10/13~1/19/14 (7 weeks)
Level III – Game Programming using Visual Studio: This is one of our Exploring Computer Programming series for middle school students. Our objective is to train the students with the hottest programming skills not available else where, to enable young learners to understand the fundamental principle of building a technology-driven modern society, and to evaluate future career as a Computer Scientist through a series of fun and hands-on programming learning exercises. Students will have the opportunity to code several 2-D and 2.5-D games using Microsoft Visual Studio, learn the introductory skills in programming logic, math, simple geometry, and simple Object-Oriented Programming methods which are the building block of all games and software application. Successful completion of the course will allow students to observe apps/games from technologist's perspective, and become more intelligent and self-conscious when interfacing with everyday technologies. Class dates: 1/26/14~3/9/14 (7 weeks)
Level IV – Creative Computing using MIT Scratch: This course is the last one in our exploring programming and technology class. Students will ease into object-oriented programming concepts with Scratch (a project of the MIT Media Lab), creating stories and interactive adventures with stackable code blocks. Scratch is a drag and drop program that introduces young minds to programming. Create story lines and generate interactive adventures. With Scratch, you learn the fundamentals of programming by snapping together colorful blocks of code. This class visually teaches the fundamentals of programming in such a way that very young minds can grasp the advanced concept of programming. Class dates: 3/16/14~5/18/14 (8 weeks) Enrolling now !
Through this series of training, we will be able to measure and identify each student’s potential in Technology field and provide guidelines and advises on each student’s future advancement in Computer Science.
