Introduction to android system
This 24-hour program is design for students with foundation in Java or C++ programming languages. In the class, students will practice their java programming skills, learn advanced Java concepts through the use of Google's Android Studio programming environment. Students will learn how to create apps run on Android smartphones and tablet devices. Topics include screen layout design, Android Activity and its life cycle, background services, UI and user interaction, data storage, images handling, messaging, and publishing app on Google Play Store.
Two types of students are strongly encouraged to study this subject:
1. High school students with AP-CS passing scores (3+), who are interested in applying for college Computer Science major, and who want to get a head-start in building advanced mobile apps for the purpose of demonstrating their unique talent in software engineering;
2. College students with some programming experience, who want to gain the most demanding skills in the fast-paced technology industry in order to stand out from the crowd for summer job or to pursue entrepreneurship opportunities during/after their college.
Upon completion of this program, students will be able to and are required to publish at least one app in Android platform. The instructor will assist students in setting up Google Play Service in order to receive payment for income generated by app downloads.
Prerequisite: knowledge of OOP(Object-Oriented Programming) and/or experience with Java, C++, C#, or OOP related programming languages (Students must bring own laptop computers.)
