Learn the fundamentals of Java™— a modern, powerful tool for business, academic, and Internet applications. It is one of the most relevant, in-demand programming languages on the job market today. Java™ has many uses—from game development to business tools and 3D imaging. It is even the chosen language for the AP® Computer Science A Exam.
AP-Computer Science (AP-CS) is a valuable high school curriculum for students interested in Technology as a career, and who wants to build a compelling transcript for college, including technical electives that demonstrate widely recognized skills. According to College Board, taking AP-CS can lead to a future in 130 career areas, and 48 college majors.
This class is designed to provide the fundamental skills in learning AP-CS A for 10th+ grade students. It is further integrated with practical exercises in writing several fun Android mobile device applications and games. Building interesting apps and games is the best way to succeed in learning Java and passing AP-CS exam, which is how this class is structured. In our class, students will learn to use the industry standard Eclipse development environment, Java programming language, and Google’s Android ADK in building advanced mobile apps. At the end of class, students will leave with a solid foundation in Java programming, be ready for advanced study in Java language, and be equipped with the tools to excel in the booming field of computer technology.
Prerequisite: Proficiency in Algebra
